Durham Women are back on the road this weekend for their final game of the 2021/22 season – with Charlton Athletic lying in wait.
After a big win over local rivals Sunderland last week, the Wildcats will be looking to sign-off the campaign on a high and secure as high a finish as possible.
But Charlton, fresh off their own morale-boosting triumph, will have exactly the same goal in mind.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the clash at The Valley…
Charlton, in their first season as a fully-professional side, are looking to secure a top-half finish as they head into the final game.
Under the guidance of Karen Hills, the Addicks have enjoyed some strong spells during the campaign – most notably a remarkable run of clean sheets after the turn of the year which saw them climb the FA Women’s Championship table.
A more tricky patch followed, but the side registered a 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers last week to keep the pressure on the sides above them.
Emma Follis netted a fine goal in that game and will be one to watch carefully this weekend, alongside fellow winger Katie Robinson who has shone since signing on loan from Brighton.
Elise Hughes is a constant threat up front while Mia Ross has impressed in midfield this term.
At the back, goalkeeper Eartha Cumings has enjoyed another fine season and has a strong back four in front of her.
Durham Women will be able to select from the same squad that faced Sunderland last week.
Speaking ahead of the game, goalkeeper Naoisha McAloon said: “We know it’s going to be a challenge – every game in this league is tough.
“We’re just going to go out there and try and get three points.
“It’s a big occasion and it’ll be nice to go out there and play on a lovely pitch, but it’s just another game.”
