FAQs: Supporter Information For Sunderland Clash

Durham Women welcome Sunderland to Maiden Castle on Sunday – with a bumper crowd expected.

Over 1,000 tickets have already been sold for the clash meaning it’s set to be a busy afternoon at the home of the Wildcats.

So with that in mind, we’ve put together some FAQs to make your visit to watch the River Wear Derby as easy as possible:

When and where is the game taking place?

Durham v Sunderland will take place on Sunday, April 24 with a 12pm kick-off.

The match will be held at Maiden Castle, DH1 3SE.

Can I still get a ticket for the game?

Tickets for this game have sold-out and are no longer available for purchase.

Is there somewhere for me to park?

Parking will be available for free in two car parks.

Car Park 1 is situated at Maiden Castle and is just steps from the entrance to the ground.

Spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

If Car Park 1 is full, supporters will be asked to park in Car Park 2 – which is approximately 15 minutes walk away from the ground.

This is indicated on the map below:

We would therefore advise all spectators to arrive in plenty of time to ensure that they arrive at the ground in time for kick-off, should they have to walk from Car Park 2.

We would ask fans to walk or utilise public transport where possible.

What time should I arrive?

Supporters will be able to enter Maiden Castle from 10:30am, which is when the turnstiles will open.

Given the large crowd expected, we would advise all fans to arrive as early as possible.

Will I be able to get a seat in the ground?

Seating at Maiden Castle is available on a first come, first served basis. We would therefore recommend that any fan wishing to secure a seat arrive for the turnstiles opening.

We would also ask all supporters to not sit in any seats marked as reserved.

There are a number of areas available for supporters wishing to stand, offering a great view of the action.

What refreshments will be available?

Fat Frank’s Street Food Trucks will be providing food and drinks at the game – with a choice of two catering units available.

Hot and cold options will be available, with cash and card accepted.

What will be happening at the game?

There’s plenty happening at the game, including:

  • A pre-match Weetabix Wildcats Festival from 9am, with certificate presentation at half-time during the game.
  • Our Regional Talent Club players as mascots and the guard of honour as the players enter the field.
  • Host Andy Sixsmith drumming-up the atmosphere pre-match and at half-time.
  • A post-match presentation to our Sister Clubs.
  • Our Partners Day as we welcome our valued club partners and player sponsors to Maiden Castle.

Can I meet the players?

Of course!

Durham Women’s squad will be available for autographs, photographs and a chat after the game.

I have another question – who can I contact?
