NEWS: Twaddle To Take Up NWSL Role

Durham Women this week bid farewell to head of performance Julie Twaddle – as she departs to take up an exciting opportunity in the NWSL.

Twaddle, who joined the Wildcats in the summer, will take up a similar role with Racing Louisville in the coming weeks.

Having previously spent time with Manchester City in the top flight, she made an immediate impression with both players and staff at Maiden Castle.

Commenting on her time with the club and her upcoming move, Twaddle said: “The opportunity to move to America is one that I couldn’t turn down.

“I have loved every minute of my time with Durham, it has reignited my love of coaching and shown that my passion is in top flight women’s football and I know that Durham are destined for big things.

“I wish them every success in the future.”

Lee Sanders added: “On behalf of all the staff and players at the club, I’d like to thank Julie for her time with us.

“She’s come in and made a real difference to our programme and has offered massive support to Simon, Tom and Nat as far as the multidisciplinary team is concerned.

“Her expertise and knowledge had unfortunately fell out of the game for a short while and we managed to persuade her to come back into football – and it’s amazing to see her find that passion for it again.

“She’s got an amazing opportunity to work in the professional game in America and I’m sure we’ll stay in touch and will get to see from afar all the great work we know she’ll do out there.”

Everyone at the club wishes Julie well in her move to America. All the best, Twadds!
