NEWS: Durham Women To Host Football Festival

Over 150 young players will this weekend take part in Durham Women’s Football Festival!

Teams from across County Durham, Tyne & Wear, Northumberland and Cumbria will come together at Maiden Castle on Sunday for a day of fun football – before then watching Durham Women’s FA Women’s Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers at Noon.

The Festival will give the participating teams – many of whom are Durham Women FC Sister Clubs – an opportunity to forge new links with teams in different regions and will provide valuable playing time for players over the festive season.

And it’s not just the players who will be benefitting – a number of our younger players who have recently qualified as match officials will be refereeing the fixtures as they continue to hone their skills.

Kicking-off at 9:20am (with players to arrive from 9am) on the two artificial pitches by the Supporters’ Car Park, it’s sure to be an exciting day for all involved!

The following teams will be taking part in the Festival:

  • Whickham Fellside
  • Pirelli FC
  • Durham County FC
  • Northbank
  • Boldon CA Girls
  • Washington NSG Athletic
  • Deerness Valley
  • Hetton Juniors
  • Blyth Town
  • Aycliffe Angels

All players participating in the Festival will be presented to the crowd at half-time, before receiving certificates to mark the occasion!

All those attending the Festival must pre-book admission before arrival – which can be done AT THIS LINK.
