BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Manchester City (A)

Durham Women turn their attentions to the Continental Tyres Cup as they head to Manchester City – and here’s everything you need to know…

The Wildcats face the Barclays FA WSL side after extending their unbeaten run in the league with a victory over London City Lionesses at the weekend.

And here’s all the key information ahead of the trip to the Academy Stadium…

Some of the biggest names in world football await Durham this week, with Manchester City possessing a squad packed with quality.

While results this season won’t have been what manager Gareth Taylor had hoped for, City remain a real force – as underlined by their 5-1 win over Everton in their opening Continental Tyres Cup game.

Taylor has also been forced to operate without a number of his key players this term, with the likes of Steph Houghton, Lucy Bronze, Karen Bardsley, Ellie Roebuck and Chloe Kelly all injured and unlikely to feature against the Durham.

City can still call upon the likes of Ellen White, Lauren Hemp, Jill Scott, Caroline Weir and more, though – and are set to welcome back Alanna Kennedy and Ruby Mace for this clash after they missed the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

Durham Women will be without forward Nicki Gears who remains sidelined with a long-term injury.

Speaking ahead of the game, defender Abby Holmes said: “It’s just another 90 minute game.

“Let’s go and get the ball down, play our game and see what happens.

“There’s no pressure on us whatsoever. We’re the underdogs and I think we like it that way.”
