Beth Hepple says Durham Women will continue to take things game-by-game as the Wildcats prepare to head to Sunderland.
The Wildcats reached the summit of the FA Women’s Championship table after their win over Lewes on Sunday, but the midfielder is keen to ensure the side don’t look too far ahead.
“Every point is huge and vital in this league,” she said.
“It’s very early days and we take it game-by-game and keep our feet firmly on the floor.
“There’s going to be twists and turns and all we can do is take it week-by-week.”
Hepple again played a key role in the win over the Rooks – in what was her 175th appearance for Durham.
It’s a landmark that isn’t lost on the midfielder.
“I’m over the moon,” she added.
“It’s really nice to hit a big milestone like that at this club, and hopefully there will be many more to come.
“It was a big game on Sunday and it was nice to be back at home in front of our fans.
“We kept that winning momentum going – so happy Sunday.”
Next up is a visit to Eppleton Colliery Welfare to face Sunderland, where Hepple is again expecting a testing afternoon.
“We know how tough this league is.
“Every team is competitive and Sunderland will be no different. It’s a derby so it’s going to be a huge game, and a tough game.”
