CHRISTON: ‘Something To Build On’

Ellie Christon wants to see Durham Women continue to build after their 2-0 win over Lewes.

The full-back opened the scoring in the triumph and was delighted with a third straight victory.

“I’m really pleased with that,” she said.

“We just keep building each week and putting good performances in.

“The clean sheet is really pleasing and it’s something to build on going forward into next week.”

Christon netted her third goal for the club with a well-taken first half effort – and was delighted to see hard work to get into the right areas pay off.

“The formation allows me to get high and we’ve spoken about being there when balls come in, and it happened today.

“I was just happy to get a good connection on it and see it hit the back of the net.”

And the goal, which came with 16 minutes on the clock, could not have come at a better moment.

“It gave us that belief straight away,” explained Christon.

“We’re always confident going into fixtures, but we knew they would probably cause us problems.

“They were very good defensively but we were patient – and that’s what we spoke about – and we managed to break them down nice and early and kept going.”
