Liz Ejupi was delighted to see Durham Women continue to build momentum after their 2-0 win at Bristol City.
The striker netted her first goal for the club in the triumph at the Robins High Performance Centre, with Beth Hepple netting a late penalty to seal the points.
It meant back-to-back wins for the Wildcats in an ultra-competitive FA Women’s Championship – a feat which isn’t lost on Ejupi.
“It’s a massive win,” she said.
“It’s the furthest team to come and travel to and we had a big win last week against a big club – so it was really important to carry that momentum on away from home.
“We did that today.”
Ejupi opened the scoring in the South West after showing real persistence to prod the ball past Fran Bentley.
And while naturally pleased to get off the mark at her new club, the forward was more concerned with the overall result.
“For me, a goal like that against Bristol to give us some momentum – that’s what matters.
“We rode it out, we made it difficult and then we got a penalty and won the game.”
At the other end, Durham kept a second consecutive clean sheet – another positive that pleases Ejupi.
“We obviously have a good record at the back from last season.
“Clean sheet today, clean sheet last week – and we’re focusing on what we’re doing up top too.”
