REPORT: Bristol City 0-2 Durham

Durham Women picked-up where they left off after the international break with a victory at Bristol City.

Liz Ejupi’s first goal for the club and a Beth Hepple penalty sealed three points for the Wildcats – who defended resolutely throughout.

The visitors made just one change from the side that beat Charlton Athletic as Liz Ejupi came in for Dee Bradley.

And the Wildcats began brightly with Bridget Galloway seeing a break on goal thwarted by Satara Murray after she seized on a lapse in concentration.

Chances were at a premium in the early stages, but the first real opportunity fell to the Robins as Izzy Cook saw an effort come back off the woodwork.

Durham improved as the half wore on and Galloway saw a goal chalked-out for offside before Abby Holmes fired an effort wide.

And a breakthrough would come before the interval when Ejupi battled her way through the backline and prodded into the roof of the net.

Mollie Lambert could have doubled the advantage but was denied by Fran Bentley, while Galloway sent an effort wide at the near post.

The Wildcats continued to push forward in the second half with Holmes seeing a low strike brush the outside of the post before Aimee Palmer had to slide in to prevent Hepple from scoring from close range.

Bristol piled the pressure on as the half progressed but failed to seriously trouble Megan Borthwick.

Indeed, the best opportunities of the second half fell to the Wildcats with Bentley keeping out Hepple and Ali Johnson in quick succession.

Hepple wouldn’t have to wait long to get on the scoresheet though, as she confidently rolled home a penalty after a handball in the box.

Durham then saw out some late pressure to claim a vital win.
