Durham Women continue their FA Women’s Championship campaign at Sheffield United this weekend – and here’s everything you need to know…
The Wildcats face the Blades after registering a victory against Watford on the opening day.
And here’s all the key information on the second game of the campaign:
Sheffield United are one of the favourites for promotion this term having finished third last season under experienced boss Neil Redfearn.
While the Blades saw some players depart over the summer – including attacking trio Katie Wilkinson, Jade Pennock and Mel Johnson – they have managed to retain a number of their star performers.
They include ex-Liverpool stopper Fran Kitching, cultured midfielder Kasia Lipka and striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk – all of whom have experience at this level and above.
In have come former England internationals Sophie Bradley-Auckland and Jess Clarke alongside youngsters such as Tara Bourne and Mia Enderby.
The South Yorkshire side suffered defeat at Blackburn Rovers last weekend, but will be keen to bounce back on Sunday in what will no doubt be a difficult game for Durham.
Durham Women will be without forward Nicki Gears who remains sidelined with a long-term injury.
Speaking ahead of the game, full-back Ellie Christon said: “We keep saying, every game is tough this year. The league is really competitive and Sheffield United always give us a tough game.
“But we’re really looking forward to it. I think there’s a real belief in the team and there’s a buzz around the place.”
