Durham Women FC are delighted to confirm that Danielle Brown has extended her stay with the club.
The former Sunderland and Middlesbrough winger joined the club during the 2020/21 campaign and quickly became a regular in the first-team side.
With her pace and trickery adding another dimension to the Wildcats’ attack, Brown began to rack-up the assists as the season continued – and is now targeting a greater impact in the new campaign.
“I am really excited for the upcoming season,” she said.
“This will be my first full season at the club, and I am really looking forward to having the opportunity to work with an experienced and professional group of staff in the coming months to hit the ground running for the fixtures ahead.
“Combining this with the outstanding facilities at Durham, I feel that this year will allow me to develop as a player and achieve my full potential.
“Reflecting on last season, I know that we have what it takes to win the league.
“At this club, we are all very ambitious and hard-working. But what impressed me most when I joined during last season was the togetherness in the team. I feel this is one of the most important things in a team sport.
“So I am confident that combining this with the hard work we are putting in this preseason will allow us to achieve this.”
Next season will also be a special one for Brown as she is able to play in front of the club’s passionate supporters for the first time.
And among the crowd at Maiden Castle will be the winger’s family and young son, Santiago.
Brown added :“Obviously this season will be my first time playing in front of our home fans, and after seeing the incredible support on the live streams and social media, it makes me really excited to welcome them back.
“I think this will massively benefit our home performances. And personally, I am really looking forward to meeting the fans.
“Also, following the amazing support I have received from my family to make a return to football, I can’t wait to have them at the games. As this is my first full season after having my little boy, it will be a very special moment to see him on the sidelines too.”
Commenting on Brown’s new contract, manager Lee Sanders sad: “I think Dan will emerge to be a really important player for the club over the coming years.
“She’s young, has had some time away but has come back determined, professional and has impressed everyone since joining us.
“She’s another important signing for the club.”
