Molly Sharpe says Durham Women left Everton proud of their performance against the FA Women’s Super League side.
The forward handed the Wildcats the lead in their Vitality Women’s FA Cup tie, but two second half strikes from the Toffees saw them progress.
But nonetheless, Sharpe was delighted with the performance at Walton Halton Park.
“We went out with a gameplan and it worked,” she explained.
“It was just a couple of bad moments in the game where they scored, but I’m really proud of the girls today.
“We put all our effort in today but unfortunately it wasn’t to be today.”
“We’re so proud of the way we played,” continued the striker.
“We’ve been working towards this game for a couple of weeks now and we’re really happy with how disciplined we were and how we played.”
Sharpe’s goal was a moment of real quality – and one which owed plenty to hard work behind the scenes.
“I thought I’d messed the chance up at first!,” she admitted.
“But I’ve been practising and practising finishes like that – and I’m so happy it went in.”
