Megan Borthwick became the latest Durham Women player to hit a significant appearance milestone on Sunday – as she racked-up her 50th appearance for the club.
The stopper, who joined the Wildcats in 2016, hit the landmark against Sheffield United in the club’s latest FA Women’s Championship game – and said she was ‘over the moon’ to join a host of her teammates in hitting that appearance number.
“Every game that you get to play here is a privilege, so to get 50 appearances – I’m absolutely over the moon with that,” she said.
“I’m really happy.
Reflecting on the game, Borthwick added: “The first-half was a bit cagey.
” It wasn’t the best performance on my behalf and I admit that. But the second half, the girls really dug deep and we did have a lot of chances.
“I think we were unlucky not to come away with the win.
“That’s one thing that we always do – we don’t give up. We try our hardest and I think the grit we have is really important.”
