Durham Women can confirm that Sunday’s scheduled FA Women’s Championship fixture with Leicester City has been postponed.
After heavy snowfall in the region across the last week, an early pitch inspection was held this morning with the Maiden Castle pitch under a thick layer of snow and frozen beneath.
With the temperature not expected to rise above freezing before kick-off, an early decision was made to postpone the game in order to prevent the visiting team and match officials from travelling.
All efforts were made to get the game on, including seeking an alternative venue, but there were no feasible solutions.
A rearranged date will be announced in due course.
