Durham Women kick-start 2021 this weekend – with a visit to Lewes.
The Wildcats will travel to The Dripping Pan to face a side who have already posed a stern test one this season.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the fixture:
THE OPPOSITION
Managed by Simon Parker, the Rooks have already shown themselves to be a team to watch this term having collected some eye-catching results.
Lewes have already held both Liverpool and Sheffield United to draws and were arguably unlucky not to get more from either game – while four league wins see the side perched in 6th in the Championship table.
And having assembled a squad packed with quality, Parker will be hoping to see his troops climb the table in the coming weeks.
At the back, Rhian Cleverly and Ellie Hack form a solid defensive partnership while Fillipa Savva is a classy operator in the engine room.
Up top, Lewes have plenty of options – including the lively Katie Rood, Georgia Timms and Simran Jhamat.
WE’VE MET BEFORE
We welcomed Lewes to Maiden Castle in our first home game of the campaign, and ran-out 3-0 winners thanks to Beth Hepple’s brace and Emily Roberts’ fine solo effort.
We’ve only visited the Dripping Pan once before – where Nicki Gears’ goal proved enough for a 1-0 win.
MATCH INFORMATION
The match will be played at The Dripping Pan, Lewes.
Kick-off is at 12:00pm on Sunday, January 10.
