The draw for the quarter-finals of the 2020/2021 FA Continental Tyres League Cup will be broadcast live on BT Sport Score on Saturday 19 December following the conclusion of the first-round group stages this week.
Everton’s 1-0 win over Manchester United was not enough to see them clinch one of the two best runners-up positions, which meant Durham claimed their first last eight spot in the competition, alongside fellow best runner-up Crystal Palace, and group winners Aston Villa, Manchester City, West Ham United, Leicester City and holders of the trophy, Chelsea.
One rule in the quarter-final draw is that the two runners-up cannot play the teams that topped their respective groups, which means Bristol City cannot face Crystal Palace and Durham cannot be drawn with Aston Villa.
The draw for the competition’s tenth final will be carried out during BT Sport 1’s Saturday afternoon show ‘BT Sport Score’ at 3.55pm by former Everton and England goalkeeper, Rachel Brown-Finnis, and presenter, Jules Breach.
Two matches that were called off during the first-round group stages – Charlton Athletic v Brighton & Hove Albion and London City Lionesses v Chelsea – will not be rescheduled following the decision of an independent tribunal.
The final of the competition is due to be played on Sunday 14 March with the venue to be confirmed early in the New Year. Should fans be permitted to attend, ticket details will be released in due course.
Durham will be ball number 5 in the draw.
