Bridget Galloway believes Durham Women’s draw against Charlton Athletic will prove a point gained come the end of the season – rather than two dropped.
The Wildcats were frustrated for large spells of the 1-1 draw at Maiden Castle, as the Addicks defended resolutely and kept their hosts at bay.
But Galloway’s injury time leveller ensure that Durham would take a point from the clash – and, while three was the aim, the striker feels this will likely be viewed as a point gained come May.
“I think coming away with a point was good, and we’ll look back at this later in the season and know it was a point that we needed,” she said.
“It wasn’t our best performance today, especially compared to during the week when we smashed it. We just weren’t on our game.
“We just needed that early goal to settle it, which we just couldn’t get.”
The late goal was Galloway’s second of the week and took her tally for the season to three.
And the summer signing is now hoping to kick-on and add further to her tally.
“It was the last kick of the game,” she said of her 96th minute strike.
“I just held out at the back post, and it just dropped to me.
“It’s good to get on the goalsheet because that’s always my aim. To get two in two, hopefully they now just keep coming.”
