BIG MATCH PREVIEW: London Bees (A)

Durham Women FC continue their 2020/21 season with a trip to London Bees – and here’s everything you need to know ahead of the game.

The Wildcats will travel to The Hive to face a Bees side whose league position does not reflect the quality within their ranks.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the fixture:

THE OPPOSITION

Handed a place in the second tier of the women’s game at the same time as Durham, London Bees have been a regular force in the Championship ever since.

Now under the leadership of Lee Burch, the Bees are looking to bounce back after a tricky start to the season.

Burch’s side are yet to register a league win, but have run the likes of London City Lionesses very close.

And the side have a number of strong players in their ranks. Midfielder Charlie Estcourt is a Welsh international while forward Lauren Pickett is a handful.

At the back, stopper Sarah Quantrill is a reliable option between the sticks while former Wildcat Nicola Gibson could also feature.

WE’VE MET BEFORE

Our last meeting with London Bees came last season, as we ran out 3-1 winners on home soil.

Goals from Sarah Robson, Beth Hepple and Iris Achterhof were enough for victory.

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS

Speaking ahead of the game, Molly Sharpe said: “They’re a really tough team.

“We struggled against them last year, so it’s going to be a really tough test for us.

“We need to have a good week of training and then hopefully get the result we need.”

Stay tuned for a full interview with Molly Sharpe later today.
