BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Leicester City (A)

Durham Women FC continue their 2020/21 season with a trip to Leicester City – and here’s everything you need to know ahead of the game.

The Wildcats will travel to Farley Way to face a Leicester City side sure to be in the promotion race come the end of the season.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the fixture:

THE OPPOSITION

Having been a competitive force in the FA Women’s Championship since their promotion into the league in 2018, the Foxes are now a real force in the second tier.

Under the leadership of Jonathan Morgan, it’s been a transformative summer for the club who – now under the wing of their male counterparts – have brought in a host of high quality players.

Between the sticks, Kirstie Levell and Demi Lambourne offer some quality while the backline boasts long-serving captain Holly Morgan and talented youngster Sam Tierney.

Further up the field, Natasha Flint and Millie Farrow provided some real firepower.

WE’VE MET BEFORE

We travelled to Leicester on the opening day of last season, running out 5-1 winners at Farley Way.

In the return fixture, Molly Sharpe’s strike secured a 1-0 win.

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS

Speaking ahead of the game, Becky Salicki said: “They’ve made a few signings and we know them individually and the old teams they’ve been at.

“We know it’s going to be a hard game.

“The players they’ve got are very good and collectively they’ll be very good, so we’ll just hope we can be better.”
