Beth Hepple was under no illusion as to the importance of Durham Women’s victory over London City Lionesses – after her goal sealed the three points.
Here’s what the midfielder had to day:
On the result…
“It’s a massive three points for us.
“We knew it was going to be really tough and probably a scrappy game, like it was, for the full ninety.
“I think it just shows how we can change how we play to get the result, and that’s we did today.
“We didn’t play our best football but we got the goal and put our bodies on the line when it counted and defended really well.”
On her goal…
“It gives you a massive boost at half-time when you’re going in and you’ve got the lead.
“It gives you something to play for and hang on to and the past few weeks we have left it late, so that really helped.
“We were under the cosh a bit in the first half so to get the goal gave us something to play for.”
On targets moving forward…
“The only target I have is to get promoted and win the league.
“That’s the only target we’ve got and if I can help the team do that, the brilliant – but I literally only care about the results.”
