Durham Women FC are delighted to confirm that Ellie Christon has extended her stay with the club.
Having joined the Wildcats in 2014, Christon is one of the longest-serving players in the ranks and is one of only three first-team members to have made over 100 appearances for the club.
The versatile defender was a near ever-present last season in a Durham defence that was once again among the most watertight in the FA Women’s Championship – and is now looking excitedly towards the 2020/21 campaign.
“I’m really pleased that I’m going to be staying for another season with Durham,” she said.
“This is now my seventh season and it’s been a great journey since 2014. I’m looking forward to next season and what that’s going to bring – and I’ve got a good feeling about it.”
Manager Lee Sanders added: “Ellie is one of the longest-serving players at the club, and has consistently been a high-performer so we are all delighted she will be with us next season.
“She’s another player who has made up that strong backline that we’ve become renowned for but also her support play going forward is a huge strength to her game.
“She works extremely hard in training and equally as hard away from training to keep herself in the best condition possible and to keep improving herself.”
