NOW RECRUITING: Dual Career Academies

Durham Women FC are delighted to announce details of our 2020/21 Dual Career Academies – giving young females the chance to combine playing elite level football with their studies.

We are currently recruiting for two Girls Football Academies ahead of the 2020/21 academic year, with full details on each centre below:

DURHAM SIXTH FORM CENTRE

Youngsters from around County Durham and Tyne & Wear can join our Academy at Durham Sixth Form Centre – who have been rated as an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ post-sixteen centre.

As part of our academy, you will be able to benefit from:

  • A wide variety of educational offerings – including A-Levels, BTECs and the all-new T-Level
  • Access to the world class training facilities at the Durham University Sport and Wellbeing Park
  • Coaching from UEFA-qualified coaches and top-class medical and academic support
  • The chance to represent Durham Women FC in local competitions, the National Football Youth League and the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Academy Cup
  • Outstanding access to higher education pathways, with previous Academy graduates going on to secure places at prestigious universities

These are being held on the following dates:

  • 27th February
  • 12th March
  • 23rd April

All sessions will be held at Durham University Sports and Wellbeing Park, DH1 3SE, from 5pm to 6pm.

BEDE SIXTH FORM CENTRE

For those living in Teesside, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire, our Academy at Bede Sixth Form Centre allows you to combine your football with a fantastic education.

As part of this academy, you will be able to benefit from:

  • A wide variety of educational offerings – including A-Levels, BTECs and foundation degrees
  • Access to the world class training facilities including a FIFA-accredited 4G pitch
  • Coaching from UEFA-qualified coaches and top-class medical and academic support – plus support from a TASS Dual Career Co-ordinator
  • The chance to represent Durham Women FC in local competitions, the National Football Youth League and the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Academy Cup
  • Outstanding access to higher education pathways, with previous Academy graduates going on to secure places at prestigious universities

Our next Girls’ Football Academy Taster Day at Bede is being held on Thursday, February 20 from 11am to 2pm at Marsh House Ave, TS23 3HB.

FOLLOW IN THEIR FOOTSTEPS

Did you know that a number of our first team squad have benefited from our Girls Football Academies?

Becky Salicki was a student at Durham Sixth Form Centre and, after combining her education with elite level football, went on to study for a Masters Degree.

She praised the dual-career academy, saying; “I loved being at Durham Sixth Form Centre.

“The education was unbelievable, the support we got was fantastic and they supported me with my football.”

Striker Eleanor Dale, meanwhile, is a current student at SRC Bede.

“It’s been really good combining my studies with football,” she said.

“We’ve got a great set-up, great coaching and we get a fantastic education.”
