Ellie Christon says Durham Women are relishing the challenge of testing themselves against a full-time side in Bristol City.
The Vixens, who currently sit bottom of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, are the Wildcats’ opponents in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
And Christon says the side are geared-up for a big game.
“I think the girls always relish a challenge like this – playing against a team from the division above,” she said.
“I think we can compete with them, and our performances are there, so we just need to be our usual selves on the day and give it our all.
“It’s a long journey down, but we always seem to play quite well away from home.
“We beat them last season, so we’ve got to take confidence from that and give it our all on the day.”
And while there are debates in the men’s game over the merits of the FA Cup, Christon says there are no such thoughts when it comes to the Women’s FA Cup.
“We love it, and it’s always the competition you want to get furthest in,” she admitted.
“We just want to do the business.”
