Molly Sharpe was delighted to see Durham Women claim three points against Leicester City – but knows improvements need to be made in the coming weeks.
Read what the striker had to say after the 1-0 win…
Sharpe on the game:
“It’s always difficult coming back after the Christmas break, so to get three points on the board – even though it was a really hard fought game – is really good.
“Leicester have been signing players and strengthening their squad, so to get that win against them is brilliant.”
Sharpe on her goal:
“I’d tried it earlier in the game!
“I just saw their ‘keeper was out, so I tackled the defender and put it through her legs, then watched it trickle in!”
Sharpe on the scrappy nature of the game:
“After Christmas it’s hard coming back.
“Fitness levels aren’t where they should be so we need to work on that, but in scrappy games if you can win them then it’s all good.”
Sharpe on the supporters:
“They help us so much, especially when you’re struggling at the end of the game.
“It really keeps you going.”
Sharpe on the visit of London City Lionesses next weekend:
“When we played them away, it was brilliant.
“So we’re going to try and push on from this game and get another win.”
