Beth Hepple insists that Durham Women have quickly turned their focus to Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace after midweek defeat at Liverpool.
The Wildcats exited the Continental Cup after a 3-1 defeat at Prenton Park, but midfielder Hepple believes that will allow the side to concentrate on the bread and butter of the FA Women’s Championship.
“We are disappointed, but I think we probably let ourselves down a bit in the first half,” she admitted after the defeat on Merseyside.
“Liverpool are a good side and they’re going to punish you if you’re not up to 100%, but second half we came out and we showed what we’re about.
“We won the second half at the end of the day, so I’m proud of the girls for showing what we can do. We’re focusing on the league this year.
“We are disappointed to come out here, but our focus is really on Sunday now.
“It’s just frustrating because we competed so well in the second half and we were probably the better team.
“If we’d done that in the first half it would probably have been a totally different score line but it is what it is and we showed what we were about in the second half and I thought we were the better team by a mile.”
