Ellie Christon believes Durham Women gave a good account of themselves – despite a 3-1 defeat at Liverpool.
After falling three goals behind in the first half, the Wildcats rallied and put in a much improved performance after the break.
And given the challenging circumstances around the game, full-back Christon was delighted with the effort shown.
Here’s what she said after the game:
On a much improved second half at Liverpool…
“That’s what we’ve just been saying.
“We didn’t really turn up for the first 15 or 20 minutes, and the first two goals could have been prevented.
“But we’re just happy we came back out, left it all on the pitch and we gave a good account of ourselves.
“We’ve won that second half 1-0, so that’s pleasing.”
On challenging circumstances – which saw the Wildcats travel arrangements and squad disrupted...
“The girls gave everything under the circumstances, and we can’t be disappointed with that.
“We’ve challenged them all the way until the 90th minute, so we can be pleased.”
On the trip to Crystal Palace...
“Probably just another physical test.
“It’s always very close and a battle, but we’re confident and we just need to pass them off the park like we have done other teams.”
