BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Coventry United (A)

Durham Women will look to return to winning ways this weekend as they head to Coventry United.

After back-to-back defeats against Sheffield United, the Wildcats are keen to bounce back when they head to the Midlands.

But Coventry – newly-promoted this season – will prove a stern test for Lee Sanders’ side having hit some form in recent weeks.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the fixture:

THE OPPOSITION

Promoted from the FA Women’s National League last season, Coventry United have excelled in the third tier and are now keen to make their mark at the elite level.

While the club itself are new to the league, a number of their players have vast experience of higher levels – including Chelsea Weston, Beth Merrick and Katy Morris.

New manager Stuart Wilson saw his tenure begin with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Blackburn, and has since led the side to a penalty victory over Aston Villa and a comfortable triumph against Leicester City last weekend.

WE’VE MET BEFORE

We’ve met Coventry United just once, winning 4-0 in the Continental Cup earlier this season.

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS

Speaking after the defeat to the Blades last weekend Sarah Wilson said: “We’re going to get straight back into training.

“The Coventry game isn’t going to be taken lightly. We have to go and perform the way we did today and previous results mean nothing.”
