Becky Salicki has reiterated her confidence in the Durham Women squad ahead of a tricky trip to Aston Villa.
A visit to the unbeaten league leaders promises to be a stern test for the Wildcats, but Salicki is confident in the squad’s ability.
Watch the video below to see what she had to say ahead of the clash:
Salicki on facing Aston Villa…
“They are a very, very good team and they’re at the top of the league for a reason.
“We just need to go there and play our game. We’ve got our game plan, we’ll stick to it, and just see where we get to at the end of it.
“But I’ve got every faith we can give them a good game, but our main point is to come away with three points.”
On coming up against top scorer Mel Johnson…
“She’s doing really well, and it’s one of those games where I’d prefer to have someone to come up against and have that battle.
“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve played against her many times – she’s quick, she can score goals – but we’ll do everything we can to try and stop her.”
On the hype around the Villa fixture…
“I see it as just another game, to be honest.
“It is a big game but we can’t let emotions run high. We just have to take it as it is.
“We’re away from home and I always think we do better away from home. The travelling we do and the stuff we do as a team together is fantastic.
“But it’s not just two teams – every teams in this league, you can’t just say one or two teams will be up there.
“The way we’re looking at things is that every game we’re coming up against will be the hardest.
“Villa will be a very important game for us, but every game will be.”
