BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Blackburn Rovers (H)

Durham Women return to action this weekend as they welcome Blackburn Rovers in the FA Women’s Championship.

The clash looks set to be another stern test for the Wildcats, with the newly-promoted side starting to find their feet.

And ahead of the game, here’s everything you need to know – from tickets to travel and more:

THE OPPOSITION

A regular force in the FA Women’s National League, Blackburn finally earned a deserved promotion to the second tier last season.

And while Gemma Donnelly’s squad are yet to seal a maiden Championship victory, they have a squad packed with quality and have put in some impressive performances of late.

At the back, Arsenal youngster Fran Stenson provides stability between the sticks while further up the field the quality of Natasha Flint is clear to see.

WE’VE MET BEFORE

Actually, we haven’t.

With Blackburn only earning promotion last season, the two teams have never met.

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS

“Honestly, at this moment every team is going to be a challenge for us,” said striker Iris Achterhof.

“They all want to beat us because we’re at the top.

“But we know what’s coming and we’re ready, and we’ll just take it one game at a time.”
