Iris Achterhof says Durham Women are braced for a stern test from Blackburn Rovers as they prepare to return to FA Women’s Championship action.
After a week-long break owing to international call-ups, the Wildcats will welcome newly-promoted Blackburn to New Ferens Park this Sunday (12pm kick-off).
And Achterhof – who netted her first goals for the club in the 6-0 win at London City Lionesses – is prepared for another big test.
“Honestly, at this moment every team is going to be a challenge for us,” she admitted.
“They all want to beat us because we’re at the top.
“But we know what’s coming and we’re ready, and we’ll just take it one game at a time.”
A fine start to the season has seen Durham win their opening five games, with Lee Sanders’ side currently topping the second tier.
And while keen to take plenty from those victories, Achterhof is keen to ensure her side only focus on the short-term.
“I think you can take a lot out of the games, but we just have to focus on one game at a time,” said the striker.
“Obviously we look back at the games and learn from it, but it’s also gone by now
.”We just focus on the next game coming up and take it one game at a time.”
