Durham Women FC are delighted to confirm the signing of American winger Julia Weithofer.
The versatile 24-year-old joins the Wildcats after a spell in Italy with Lazio – having caught the eye in training in recent weeks.
Weithofer previously spent time with the University of Massachusetts in her homeland, and has now made the switch to England to team-up with the Wildcats.
And the club’s latest signing, who can also play at full-back, is excited at the chance to test herself in the FA Women’s Championship.
“It’s a really exciting move for me,” sad Weithofer.
“I think we have a really good team this year and I want to help keep us at the top.
“I’ve gone from the US to Italy and now to England, so I’ve seen a lot of different types of football.
“It’s exciting to see a different type and learn how to adapt myself and bring out the best in my play.”
Weithofer has received all relevant international clearance and will form part of the squad to face Aston Villa in the Continental Tyres Cup.
She will wear the number 25 shirt throughout the season.
