Ellie Christon has spoken of her pride at becoming only the third-ever player to rack-up 100 appearances for Durham Women.
The full-back reached the milestone during the dramatic 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, following in the footsteps of teammates Sarah Wilson and Beth Hepple.
And she has now revealed her thoughts on the achievement – while also taking a look ahead to the visit of Charlton Athletic:
Christon on reaching 100 appearances…
“Yeah, obviously I knew it was coming.
“I’ve been here for five seasons now, so it’s fantastic.
“There’s only a few players in the squad who have done that, so it’s a good achievement.”
Christon on the win over Crystal Palace…
“All the girls were saying afterwards that we never score last minute goals!
“It was really pleasing and we went wild when it happened.
“It was a good win and we definitely deserved it.
“We had a lot of the possession and chances and carried on until the end, and got our reward.”
Christon on the fans against Crystal Palace…
“It was quality.
“It was probably one of the best atmospheres we’ve had in terms of noise.
“They were loud all game and the noise they created when we scored was class.
“We just hope we can keep building on that.”
Christon on the next steps for Durham…
“We’re confident in our abilities and our squad, but we also need to keep our feet on the ground.
“If we keep working hard, the results will come.”
Christon on the visit of Charlton…
“They’re a strong side.
“We know what they’re about and we’ve got some time to prepare for them.
“We’re hoping to continue our good form.”
