ROBERTSON: ‘Keep The Focus On Us’

Lisa Robertson insists the Wildcats’ focus remains solely on them – and not what else is happening in the FA Women’s Championship promotion race.

Durham travel to Leicester City this weekend, knowing that only a win will keep their promotion hopes alive.

But securing three points will be easier said than done, with the Foxes one of only two sides to inflict a league defeat on the Wildcats this campaign – and Robertson is expecting another difficult test at Farley Way.

“They’ll obviously be hard to break down, they’re well-organised,” she said.

“They will look at our strengths and want to cut them out, so we’ll have to be on the top of our game.

“We’ve been focusing on the tempo of our game and the way that we attack teams.

“I think defensively we’ve been quite solid over the course of the year, but I wouldn’t say we’ve been clinical.”

Even if Durham win, they will be relying on Spurs slipping up in their next fixture to have any chance of securing a top two finish.

But the former Hibernian midfielder says the focus remains on the Wildcats’ own fortunes rather than what may happen elsewhere.

“We’ve just got to keep the focus on getting our three points and let Tottenham take care of themselves,” added Robertson.

“If they slip up, great, but if not then we have to look back on ourselves and not Tottenham.

“I think we’ve let ourselves down in some previous games.”
