Durham Women netted five goals for the second game in the row during a comprehensive win over Millwall Lionesses.
A brace from Beth Hepple was added to by Nicki Gears and Sarah Wilson in a dominant first half performance which saw the Wildcats 4-1 up at the interval – Evie Clarke netting for the hosts.
Zoe Ness then added a fifth after the break while Hepple missed a spot kick – not that it proved decisive as Durham continued their unbeaten start to the season.
Lee Sanders made just one change from the side that put five past Lewes, with Nicki Gears replacing Abi Cottam.
And Durham began brightly, taking the lead after just two minutes when Hepple curled a free-kick over Millwall’s Chloe Sansom.
It was two for the visitors just a minute later, when Gears swept home from close range after a fluid attacking move.
But the lead would be cut in half shortly after the restart with Evie Clarke’s fine finish leaving Hannah Reid helpless.
Hepple then added her second, and Durham’s third, on nine minutes as she rounded-off a hectic start to the game with a confident finish, restoring the two goal cushion.
The game tempered down after that all-action opening, although Reid was called into action to deny the lively Gabby Ravenscroft after she sprung the offside trap.
It was Durham who netted next, however, with Wilson stabbing home from inside the area after Millwall failed to clear a corner.
The skipper’s first goal of the season saw the Wildcats hold a three-goal lead at the break – and it could have been added to shortly after the restart.
Hepple, though, failed to convert from the penalty spot after a foul in the area – her penalty beating stopper Sansom but coming back off the post.
It mattered little, though, with Ness’ close range finish adding a fifth for the Wildcats as they continued to turn the screw in the second half.
Becky Salicki saw a late header acrobatically tipped over, as Durham continued to put pressure on the top two after another commanding win.
