Becky Salicki hailed the Wildcats’ togetherness as she reflected on their unbeaten start to the season.
The centre back scored one and provided another in the 5-0 win over Lewes, and believes that the family feel at the club has greatly contributed to the great start.
And Salicki was keen to see the Wildcats continue to improve as they prepare to face Millwall.
Here are her full thoughts:
Salicki on the performance against Lewes…
It was really good, there’s no other way to describe it.
We’ve been working really hard in training on playing out from the back and getting the movement to get onto the ball, and I think it’s finally come off.
We played really good football against Charlton and Crystal Palace but the goals just didn’t come.
We’ve been saying that we were due to get a few goals against a team, and that’s what happened.
Salicki on a fine team goal for the Wildcats’ fourth…
It’s really good to see.
It’s even from Hannah [Reid], she’s a fantastic player that we’ve brought in and having that confidence in her behind us is allowing us to be confident on the ball and play out.
We know we’ve got her to sweep up behind us, and that was a really good team goal.
Salicki on bouncing back from some disappointing draws…
It’s been frustrating the last few weeks, and there were a couple of draws that we definitely should have got more from.
So to win 5-0 in first half, and we could have got a few more in the second half, is great.
They were a physical team and we didn’t completely annihilate them.
They were a good team, they were physical and got some chances but all across the board everyone played really well as an eleven for us.
We defended well from the front and pressed hard, which is another thing we’re working on.
Altogether, it’s finally come together today.
Salicki on her second goal of the season…
We had a meeting before the season started and Lee wanted to know how many goals we were going to get before Christmas.
I over-excitedly said five, but I’ve only got two so far so I need to score some goals in the next few games!
But as long as we win that’s all that matters, and we got another clean sheet which is fantastic.
Salicki on whether the result is a statement…
It is and, again, some of the results could have been better for us.
We’re a team, we’re all together and we’re a family. We go into single game and give everything no matter what.
And if we do that then we should get results.
Salicki on confidence moving forward…
It’s a lot of confidence and a lot of togetherness as well.
I think the way we’ve come together this year, we aren’t as big a squad as last year and having everyone together has shown on the pitch.
