HOLMES: “We go there full of confidence”

Abby Holmes believes the Wildcats will travel to London Bees full of confidence after last week’s win over Crystal Palace.

While the trip to the Hive will undoubtedly be a tricky one, the full-back is keen to see her side continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Here’s her full thoughts ahead of the trip to the capital – plus some reflections on the Palace victory:

Holmes on the Palace win…

“We got there eventually.

“In the first 45 minutes, I don’t think we’ve had that many chances in a full game let alone the first 45.

“They kept coming, and we knew that if we kept playing the way we were and pressing them high then eventually it would come.

“And thankfully, in the second we got one and they’ve given us a helping hand with the second as well.”

On Emily Roberts’ well-taken goal…

“We’ve been practicing finishing in training and we kind of said to relax when you get the ball.

“Don’t put your laces through it, literally relax and send it back where it came from.

“Thankfully she put it right into the bottom corner.”

On an unbeaten start and a run of three successive clean sheets…

“We’re unbeaten and it’s another clean sheet.

“I felt that we worked really hard in the last few games and haven’t really got what we deserved, but against Palace we managed to get over the line, get three points and back on track.

“That’s three clean sheets on the bounce so we’re extremely happy with that. We just need to keep going and keep that shop shut, as we say.”

On the trip to London Bees…

“It’s always a tough task.

“I haven’t played them in a few years now obviously, but we definitely need to go full of confidence.

“If we play like we did in the first 45 minutes against Palace then I’m sure we’ll get the job done.

“We have to be confident in all of them and have confidence in our own ability.

“It doesn’t matter who we’re playing, we just need to get the ball down, play our game and hopefully finish with three points.”
