Sarah Wilson’s first half header saw Durham Women get back to winning ways against Brighton.
Wilson headed home from Beth Hepple’s 18th minute corner to hand the Wildcats victory after a dominant performance.
Lee Sanders made three changes to the side that narrowly lost out to Doncaster Rovers Belles as Nicki Gears, Nicola Gibson and Caroline Dixon all started.
And the hosts started brightly, with Gears denied by Emma Byrne early on before Dixon flashed a volley narrowly wide of the far post.
The hosts’ early dominance paid dividends when Wilson opened the scoring, meeting Hepple’s delivery with a bullet header which left Byrne powerless.
Chances continued to come for Durham with Zoe Ness seeing an effort well-saved and Gibson and Gears both seeing shots blocked.
Durham continued to press forward after the break and could have had a second when Hepple struck the crossbar from Ness’ teasing cross.
Ness herself then curled an effort narrowly over the bar before Emily Roberts saw a drilled effort held by the opposition stopper.
Roberts threatened again moments later after swapping passes with Hepple, only to shoot straight at Byrne.
Brighton pushed forward in the final stages but struggled to test Rachael Laws, with the Wildcats seeing out the final minutes to wrap up a well-deserved victory.
