DURHAM SIXTH FORM CENTRE

Durham Sixth Form Centre is the largest post-16 school in the North East of England, with approximately 1,500 students on roll. Situated in the middle of Durham City Centre, we are a couple of minutes walk from both the bus and railway stations. Students generally enrol at Durham Sixth Form Centre from over 50 different secondary schools from across County Durham, Sunderland and Northumberland.

In March 2017, Her Majesty’s Inspectors graded Durham Sixth Form Centre as ‘outstanding’ following a rigorous two day inspection.

Students have an excellent record of success, which they work hard to achieve. Our 2019 highlights are summarised below:

100% A-Level pass rate once again.
A total of 131 A* and 597 Distinction* grades awarded.
Over half of all A-Level entries awarded at grades A*-B and the average grade for A-Level was a grade B-.
Students gained, on average, a Distinction* in vocational courses.
95% of vocational entries were awarded Distinction* or Distinction grades.
Three quarters of all entries were at grades A*-B (or equivalent). Well done!
Our Tech Level (occupational qualifications) grades and points are well above the County Durham average and national average.
