It’s a huge point for Durham at Maiden Castle, as The Blues fight back with a late equaliser.

A battling display in the wind and an excellent performance from the girls was enough to earn a well-deserved point against a high-flying Robins side.

Opening the game with a fiery attacking spell, Durham soon found themselves ahead. On the 14th minute Lucy Watson fired a troublesome ball across the face of Bristol City’s goalmouth, Hannah Blake arrived on hand to tap home her first goal of the campaign.

It was the visitors who made the next move, floating a lofted cross into the six-yard box, Gemma Lawley rose highest to head the ball into the back of the net.

Just moments after the break, Bristol found themselves a second – another corner routine, with Mari Ward heading home.

Firing on all cylinders to get something from the game, a series of set pieces from Durham came agonisingly close to an equaliser.

Surging into the box from the bench, Sarah Robson was fouled, earning Durham a penalty and a chance to equalise deep into stoppage time.

Showcasing pure composure, Beth Hepple stepped up, planting the ball confidently beyond the reach of the Robins’ goalkeeper to earn a huge point!
