Match Preview | Lucy Watson previews Charlton Athletic

Lucy Watson previews Sunday’s game against Charlton in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2!

Watson on the team…

“I think we’ve been building on performances and had a real switch on since Christmas.

“Picking up points in back-to-back games was a great feeling, especially taking points from a promotion pushing side.”

Watson on her 98th minute goal against Birmingham…

“I actually didn’t realise it was so late in the game, the 98th minute.

“I think one of the main things for me was that we had quite a lot of free kicks in the second half, and some near misses, so we had to make one count.

“I’m obviously really glad that I could socre and get a really important goal for the team.”

Watson on how the camp is feeling towards Sunday…

“Positive!

“Like I just mentioned, we are in a different place now compared to before Christmas and we trust our new system.

“It’ll be tough, but I think we have prepped correctly and will be going down there with more confidence off the back of two good performances.”

Watson on Charlton…

“It will definitely be a tough game, it’s a bigger pitch compared to Maiden Castle, but I think that can be good for the team and how we want to play.

“We will go down there with respect, of course, but not too much.

“We are going there for three points and hopefully we can be the first team to take that from them this season.”
