Mollie Lambert believes Durham Women’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United was the perfect way to start the 2024/25 campaign.
The midfielder netted the opening goal in the triumph – and we caught-up with her after full-time…
Lambert on the win…
“It was what we needed.
“Going from last season, it’s the perfect way to start – three points and a good performance.
“The girls had fun and we ended with a smile. We couldn’t ask for anything better.
“Hopefully the finishes will come. We created those opportunities and they were there so there’s positives to take.”
Lambert on her goal…
“I remember shouting to Beth ‘square’ and I didn’t know if she was going to hear me!
“She did and it went in the net, and the celebration was a bit wild – but who cares!”
Lambert on the summer signings…
“They’ve slotted in brilliantly.
“They’re all getting more comfortable now – Kai, bless her, coming on for the last few minutes which is always hard.
“But we’re all team players and they’re fitting in.
“Carly and Hannah put in unreal performances and we couldn’t ask for anything better.”
Lambert on pre-season paying dividends…
“Adam and George, they work us hard.
“We’ve set our standards high this year and we’re sticking to our plan.
“I know we conceded just before half-time but nobody panicked and at half-time it was all about sticking to our plan which has been drilled into us.”
Lambert on the fans…
“They’re amazing.
“It’s freezing and they’re still out in their numbers. They’re all happy we got the three points and hopefully they come back!”
